Today we had the pleasure of attending the opening day of the Irvine Park Railroad's Pumpkin Patch. It was a wonderful family friendly event and the kids had a blast! The cost is reasonable, it's $3-$5 to get in to Irvine Regional Park and then admission to the pumpkin patch is free and works on a ticket system. It's $5 per ticket and the tickets are good for the Train and Hay rides, Bounce Houses, Face Painting, and Carnival games. While doing all of that might put a sting in your wallet there are plenty of free activities as well. The favorite free activities this year were by far the Haunted House and the Hay Maze. The Haunted House is perfect for kids, just spooky scenes with music and anything that might be a little scary was placed higher up the walls so unless the kids really looked around they would miss them. Over all I would have to say this is the best event for kids in Orange County, CA and might even be worth a trip from farther areas like Riverside County. If you want to extend your day, the Orange County Zoo is just on the other side of Irvine Regional Park. Admission is only $2 per person and children 2 and under are free.
